Oak Bay police say media coverage helped them recover a car stolen from an elderly newspaper carrier early Sunday morning.
After hearing about the stolen Oldsmobile Alero car, a Victoria based towing company reported the car had been found parked illegally near Quadra and View Street, and had been towed and impounded late Monday afternoon.
Investigators and the Forensics Identification Services examined the vehicle .
The keys were located in the car and nothing was reported to be missing from the vehicle, and there was no reported damage.
The car has since been returned to the owner. Police are not sharing details of what they found during the forensic examination. Oak Bay Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
