Saanich Police investigating after a car crash landed a vehicle in the Gorge Waterway.
The single vehicle accident took place at around 10 o’clock on Saturday night near Adelaide Rd on Gorge Road West.
Dennis Edwards, a witness, told CTV Vancouver Island that the car went quite a ways into the waterway.
“It hydroplaned about 150 feet out and started sinking and by the time they got it, it had drifted about 150 metres out.”
A 20-year-old woman, the lone occupant was taken to hospital according to police after she swam to shore with minor injuries.
Police say speed was likely a factor and charges are pending.
