According to Campbell River Search and Rescue the bodies of a father and his teenaged daughter have been pulled from the waters of a fast-moving creek near Campbell River.
The pair, along with a 15 year old friend, were on an ATV trying to cross Woods Creek Sunday in an area they had crossed many times before.
But this time the creek had been turned into a raging torrent by the heavy rains the previous night, and were swept away. While the friend was rescued, the other 2 disappeared downstream.
The body of the girl was recovered before the search was suspended Sunday night. The father's body was discovered Monday. No names have been released.
Some 3 dozen search and rescue members, along with RCMP and crews from the Campbell River and Oyster River fire departments took part in the search, along with swift water rescue teams from Comox and Campbell River.
Searchers will be offered a critical incident stress management session in tghe next few days to deal with the tragic outcome.
