RCMP and BC Coroner service investigating after three bodies were found by firefighters responding to reports of a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
The crews responded to the call around noon for a house located on Nicol Street.
Neighbours report hearing voices around the house and the sound of breaking glass. "I can hear this guy screaming for help, I don't know what happened whether it was fire-related or other."
When fire crews responded the house was fully involved once the blaze was controlled the bodies were found and removed. BC Coroner spokesman Andy Watson says they are investigating. "The Coroners service is aware of an incident in Nanaimo involving three deceased given the fact that it's so early in the investigation there is no other detail we can share at this time."
No names have been released.
Neighbours report the house was occupied by a couple and their 7-year-old daughter.
Investigators are expected to release more information tomorrow.
