Victoria police have confirmed they are investigating a stabbing downtown in which the victim has suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say they were called to the 16-hundred block of Government Street at 8:30 this morning.
Two sides of McPherson Playhouse were cordoned off, as was the front entrance of a law firm across the street, on Government.
Detectives focused in on a cart full of bottles and other items, a sleeping bag, and a blanket that were laying unattended in the doorway of the law firm. Once the cart was removed, blood droplets were visible on the ground. Detectives then bagged a number of bloody items, including a strip of wood and what appeared to be several rags.
Two Chinatown business owners say they recognize the belongings left in the doorway as those of a homeless man who often sleeps nearby. One of the owners says the strip of wood sounds similar to an item the homeless man uses to sift through garbage cans.
