With Spring Break on the horizon, Canadian Blood Services has issued an urgent call for Canadians to roll up their sleeves.
More than 35,000 donors are needed ahead of Spring Break in mid-March, to ensure patients continue to have access to the blood and blood products, and that the service is prepared for emergencies.
The national blood inventory has declined over the winter months, the organization hopes that the arrival of spring will bring a fresh supply.
"Canadian patients rely on blood donors to live longer. Thousands of donors are needed over the next few weeks to help meet patient needs in the coming months," says Rick Prinzen, Canadian Blood Services' chief supply chain officer.
