Central Saanich Police have arrested a 48 year old man following a road rage incident which just kept escalating.
Just after 1pm Thursday police got a call reporting an incident between two vehicles near Wallace Drive and West Saanich Road.
Deputy Chief Darren Lench of Central Saanich Police says after an exchange of words and gestures one vehicle followed the other into a gas station.
Deputy Chief Lench told C-FAX what happened next: "One drive confronted the other driver inside the service station, assaulted him and there was a fight that occurred inside and then spilled outside. The suspect that had assaulted the other then went into his vehicle and, at that point, retrieved what's called a 'stun stick'."
A 'stun stick' is a device hikers use to ward off predators. Police say the stun stick was used in a threatening manner until other people intervened. The man then fled and was picked up by police.
Deputy Chief Lench says you don't usually see this kind of thing on the Island.
