This year's Pride Parade in Victoria was the biggest yet. Thousands of the region’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit and queer communities turned out for today's event.
This year's parade started earlier to accommodate more people and more floats. Organizers say the parade is 20% bigger this year and features 127 floats. "It's all about sharing the love and bringing people together and that's what it's turned out to be. I think people are coming out they are accepting one another and they're not afraid to show who they are."
Premier-designate John Horgan had to cancel his scheduled appearance to go to Kamloops because of the wildfire crisis but Mayor Lisa Helps was on hand as was Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May and B.C. Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver.
The free-admission festival is a spectacle in itself, with two entertainment stages, food trucks, a children’s camp, vendor stations and a beer garden.
