The Beecher Bay First Nations Band has put Extinction Rebellion on notice that a protest by 12 activitists at Premier Horgan's Langford home February 18th was done without permission and they want an apology.
In a letter signed by Chief Russ Chipps, and 2 Councillors, the band admonishes Extinction Rebellion's Vancouver Island Chapter, saying it's disturbing that protesters would ignore traditional protocol by not asking for permission to enter the local band's territory.
The letter tells the group they put themselves above protocol in order to carry out their political business of fighting for another First Nation's Rights and Title in Beecher Bay territory.
The letter goes on to state the group insulted their community, and terrorized a private citizen in their neighbouring community.
They demand an apology to the community, Chief and Council, and the premier's wife, Ellie Horgan.
The Beecher Bay Band makes it clear the letter is not a political stance against the Wet'suwet'en, or Tyendinaga, and their right to fight for their territories.
