The coach of the Nanaimo raider’s football team is calling out the BC Junior Football league and the Westshore Rebel’s for what he calls a serious lack of security at Saturday’s playoff game between the host Rebel’s and the visiting Raider’s. RCMP had to attend the game after a fan threw not 1 but 2 cups of coffee in the face of a Raider football player. Mounties also had to escort the Raider’s to the team bus after the game ended. Jerome Erdman says “it’s not like the BCFC and the Rebels’ didn’t know this was going to be a big game, playoffs; Island rivals. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.”
The fan has been arrested and charged with assault. The Rebel’s won the game and will now host the Cullen cup.
