A BC Transit customer says he saw his bus driver reading an e-reader while at the wheel near Uptown and he's got a photo to prove it.
Brent D'Argis says he was riding the route 31 bus to downtown Victoria yesterday afternoon when he observed his driver, while stopped at a red light, reading from an e-book reader that had been mounted near the steering wheel.
"I asked the bus driver why he was doing that and he told me that he is exempt, as a bus driver, from the hands-free law."
But BC Transit spokesperson Jonathan Dyck says that's not the case, and they are now investigating the customer's complaint.
"BC Transit operators and staff are expected to obey the Motor Vehicle Act, and we do expect them to follow the rules of the road."
Saanich police confirm they are investigating the complaint, as well.
