High winds pounding the southwestern portion of the province are causing major disruptions to the BC Ferries schedule. All sailings in both directions on the Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route have been cancelled until further notice. That will include all sailings through at least two o'clock this afternoon. "We are suspending service between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay at 11am. So the 11am, 12pm, and 1 o'clock sailings from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen have been suspended due to high winds." That's Deborah Marshall with BC Ferries who tells us late morning sailings between Comox and Powell River have also been cancelled because of mechanical problems with the Queen of Coquitlam. She says it had to be towed into Departure Bay. "It was determined that was the safest route to go, the vessel did need a tug to assist to assist it in docking. So that vessel is over at our Departure Bay terminal now."
