You'll see the latest B.C. Ferry parked at the Esquimalt Drydock for the next few months as the Northern Sea Wolf undergoes a refit before entering service.
The ship recently arrived from Greece, where it operated before B.C. Ferries bought it to revive the Port Hardy to Bella Coola route.
Esquimalt Drydock was awarded two contracts worth a total of $20-million to bring the ship up to speed. General Manager Joe Sansalone tells CTV Vancouver Island that it's the biggest contract they've had from B.C. Ferries in all the years he's been there. "It's pretty big for us. It's what we call long term because it's four months. Normally our contracts are only two weeks."
Sansalone says, at the peak of the project, about 200 people will be employed.
The Northern Sea Wolf is expected to begin the Port Hardy to Bella Coola route this summer.
