B-C Ferries vessels and terminals are now smoke-free environments.
The new policy applies to the smoking of tobacco and any other substances, including the use of e-cigarettes.
Signs are posted, and smoking aids will be available in some of the shops.
BC Ferries spokesperson, Deborah Marshall, says the ban includes staff, and they've offered cessation programs to B-C Ferries employees who want to quit smoking.
The company says it’s introducing the new rules to support the health and wellness of its customers and employees.
It expects the transition will be more of an educational process as opposed to a crackdown.
