B.C. Ferries is looking at making two major changes that affect the way you travel on the service.
First, the corporation is planning on banning passengers from staying in their vehicles on closed decks which are the bottom decks on the major vessels.
The ban would force passengers on those decks to leave their vehicles while the ferry is crossing.
It's still unclear how that would be implemented and would be based on Transport Canada regulations.
Secondly, BC Ferries is also considering potential smoking ban on all vessels by April of 2017.
The union that represents ferry workers confirmed to CTV Vancouver Island that it has seen drafts for both policy changes and expects to see more from BC Ferries in the New Year.
