A 20 year old Cowichan Valley man has now been charged in connection to a disturbing case involving a Snapchat video where a cat was allegedly drugged with MDMA -- or ecstasy -- shaved, bleached and tossed out a window.
Joshua Michael Lemire was in a Duncan courtroom Wednesday to be charged with causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal. He has been released from custody, and will be making his next cout appearance January 16th.
The video shows a one year old cat named Gigi, lying under someone's hand as they hold a razor in the other. There's also pictures of Lemire and others. The video was sent to the accused's former friend, the daughter of Gigi's owner.
The cat was missing for a day, and when found owner Sharline Haglund says her pet was shaved, had what looked like bleach marks on her back, and had the number 666 written in her ear. Blood tests confirm the presence of MDMA.
RCMP say they are considering charges against other who were present when the video was made.
