An accident on Highway 1 yesterday afternoon near Duncan sent 2 people to hospital with serious injuries.
Duncan-North Cowichan RCMP CPL. Krista Hobday says accident analysts are trying to determine what happened - but it appears a south bound Dodge Caravan with Alberta plates, was turning left into the Farmer's Market at Francis Street, when it was T-boned by a northbound Ford Edge, flipping the Caravan over.
Hobday says the driver and passenger in the Caravan, both 66, were seriously injured:
"The jaws of life were utilized to get them out. We had the BC Ambulance and firefighters at scene. The gentleman was air lifted to a Victoria hospital and then transferred to another one for his injuries. They're believed to be non-life-threatening at this point. His wife has undergone surgery for her injuries up here in a local hospital."
The couple in the Caravan are both 66 years of age. A mother and daughter in the Ford Edge, aged 49 and 14, suffered minor injuries.
