A 22 year old man is in custody and a woman is dead on Salt Spring Island.
CTV News has learned that Heather Jones was found dead in a duplex on Maliview Drive, north of Ganges Thursday, and that a 22 year old man known to the victim was taken into custody.
Police have not publicly confirmed the identity of the deceased person or the man taken into custody.
Neighbours reported some sort of stand-off at a duplex Thursday morning. At noon members of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit arrived and cordoned off the home with crime scene tape. Jones' body was found inside.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has been on scene throughout the day, and neighbours said they were asked to stay inside as police dealt with the incident.
