Saanich Police are investigating a sexual assault near the Lochside trailhead at Borden and McKenzie.
Sgt Jereme Leslie says a young woman was attacked as she walked in the area at 2:30 in the morning Saturday:
" A 21 year old woman was walking on McKenzie Avenue east from Quadra Street down towards Borden when she was tackled to the ground near the Lochside Regional Trail.
An unidentified suspect grabbed her by the waist and attempted to pull her towards him. The suspect then attempted to remove the victim's shorts. However the victim managed to fight back and was able to escape. "
The suspect is identified as a 25-35 year old white male who had dark tanned skin that made him appear Hispanic or First Nations.
He's about 5’10” tall, with a heavy build, and had light stubble on his face. He was wearing a dark long sleeve shirt with a chest length zipper and a black baseball hat with an unknown white insignia.
