Langford Fire Department responded to a call of an injured man in Goldstream Park Wednesday afternoon.
Fire Chief Chris Aubrey says the 21 year old man was able to use his cell phone to summon help at about 3:00 pm after he suffered an injury and couldn't walk out on his own:
"The person was between the Gold Mine Trail and the Trans Canada Highway. So our technical rescue team went in to locate where he was and found that he had injuries to his ankle which meant that he wasn't able to come out on the trail by himself. And so we had to package him up in our basket stretcher."
Aubrey says the man likely took a fall as he suffered abrasions to his head as well as his ankle. The fire chief says it's fortunate the man had a cell phone as temperatures are cooling off at night and he was on his own.
Metchosin Fire and Rescue assisted in the rescue.
