A mixed residential and commercial development that will become the tallest building in Saanich has been given the go-ahead.
The tower, located at the end of Uptown Boulevard at the corner of Carey Road and Ravine, way will have 11 storeys of residential housing on top of 3 floors of commercial space. In total it will be 14 storeys.
Saanich Councilor Colin Plant says it was always the plan to have residential development included in the Uptown area, “that was a big part of the council’s desire … they did not get that until now.”
“This last component finally does bring to Uptown some residential units.”
The District of Saanich held a public hearing on Tuesday night and Plant says only three people showed up to speak out against the project. The developer has yet to disclose what will be in the commercial floors of the building.
