West Shore RCMP arrested 10 Hells Angels members during a traffic stop in Langford May 6th. Officers stopped a limousine on Highway 1 near Leigh Rd after it was observed violating the motor vehicle act.
The limo was participating in the gang's annual "Zeke Run" which is a gathering of members from across the province for a Nanaimo to Victoria ride in memory of one of their own, Edward "Zeke" Mikle, who disappeared in May 1993.
Const. Alex Berube says all occupants were arrested and a search turned up a loaded handgun with several loaded magazines and various suspected drugs -- such as cocaine, marijuana and pills.
"All 10 occupants of the vehicle, and we're talking about 4 associates and 6 full patch Hells Angels, were arrested and later released. Three of those individuals were released on a Promise to Appear in court on August 10th, 2017. Then a detailed report to Crown Counsel will be forwarded for consideration of multiple criminal charges against these suspects."
Berube says of those arrested several were associated with the Nanaimo and Kelowna chapters.
He adds West Shore were assisted by significant resources to monitor the motorcycle ride, including the West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, Traffic Section, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) and air support.
