Saanich police have cleared an accident scene southbound on the Pat Bay highway this morning. It happened during the morning rush hour near the Victoria Rowing Club.
Staff Sgt. Chris Horsley says witnesses report a vehicle was forced off the road by a cement truck that changed lanes:
"Well, it appears from witnesses that have reported to police that a large cement truck was also southbound. So both vehicles were southbound, the cement truck went to change lanes, and and forced the smaller vehicle right off the roadway. "
Horsley says the female driver of the smaller vehicle suffered minor injuries after she left the roadway and headed toward the lake, coming to rest on the footpath.
The accident is still under investigation - but Horsley says anyone changing lanes is required to ensure it is safe to do so.
