Big news in the travel industry - WestJet Airlines has announced it will launch a new, cheap airline later this year.
The Calgary-based company says it will start with 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft in its initial fleet and offer no-frills, lower-cost flights. V.P. marketing and communications Richard Bartram says
there are no details on pricing or flight routes at this point. "That is going to be predicated on the number of planes and which market you start with and wether or not that market is well served by WestJet or under served. Those are the sort of determinations of where we will start flying with the airline."
We'll have to wait and see if Victoria is on the flight path and if ticket prices will be similar to those of discount airlines in Europe, where you can fly between cities for 20 Euros.
