West Shore RCMP have fined 2 youths that were in possession of cannabis.
Officers were conducting foot patrols in a park near Belmont Secondary School in Langford known to be popular with youth for smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol.
There they found 2 youths who had cannabis -- both were fined $230 under Section 73 of the new British Columbia Cannabis Control and Licencing Act.
West Shore RCMP say although cannabis is now legal for adults in Canada, it is illegal for anyone under the age of 19 years old to possess or consume.
