A west shore woman says she had one of the scariest moments of her life Thursday night near Royal Roads University.
Shannon Vye came face to face with a big cat Thursday night while walking her dog near Royal Roads University. "Definitely the scariest moment I think I've ever had to experience."
Vye says the cat was laying in the grass and stalking her every move. "I've never had something stare at me like that in my entire life. All I could do was pray please; please; please do not come after me."
BC Conservation officer Stuart Bates say it's important not to turn your back on cougars; make noise; make yourself big and back away from a cat if you find yourself in a similar stare down. "Don't scream don't run. Make yourself look as big as possible. Pick up, small children. The main thing is, do not take your eyes off of it. Make sure it knows it's not going to surprise you."
The cat eluded capture, cougar warning signs are up around campus.
