Langford is expanding and upgrading the West Hills Stadium.
The stadium will be home to the new soccer team, Pacific FC, who will play in the Canadian Premier League.
The current stadium has a seating capacity of 1,600, but will be able to seat 6,000 once the pre-fabricated bleachers arrive from Italy.
Langford Mayor Stew Young says they are also looking to remove a power pole, and install more seating, bringing the grand total up to 10,000.
The field will also receive some upgrades, and parking availability will be increased by 200 spaces.
The 8 to 10 million dollars spent on the project is coming from a few sources. The Development Community and the Belmont Residents have contributed a few million, and money has been put aside from taxes to build the stadium.
West Hills isn't only home to soccer teams though, Rugby Canada also operates out of the stadium, and Young says the upgraded facility will also encourage big sporting events to Greater Victoria.
Young says once completed, the stadium will be the biggest on Vancouver Island.
He adds the stadium will be ready in May, and although the soccer season begins in April, Pacific FC will be out of town for away games at the beginning of the season, and the stadium will be ready for their first home game.
