It never gets old. The clutter and debris left by derelict boats.
Dozens of volunteers showed up over the weekend to rid Oak Bay beaches of trash from derelict boats.
After walking the shores of Cadboro Bay Saturday and scooping up rubbish like blankets, seat floats and even a kitchen sink, volunteers removed over 4 tons of boat related debris from the shoreline in 5 hours.
John Roe is with Veins of Life Watershed Society says it’s a problem that doesn't go away.
"It's just an ongoing problem here. We've had neglect for 21 years of different senior government agencies not providing the resources to get the job done, and I'm just shocked at what we pull out every time we do these jobs."
Roe says he would like the CRD to canvass the federal government for money to rid our waters of derelict boats and garbage.
