The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed a teenage girl died in Victoria this week from a suspected drug overdose.
The girl, believed to be 17, died on Wednesday.
The Coroners service says "the death of a teenage girl is under investigation and a drug overdose is one possibility being explored.”
Victoria police referred inquiries back to the coroner's service.
More than four people a day died on average in November, for a total of 128 deaths, the highest number of illicit drug overdoses for a single month in recent memory.
Last week in Vancouver, 13 people died from overdoses in one day.
Greater Victoria continues to be hard hit, recording 60 overdose deaths so far this year, trailing only Vancouver at 164 and Surrey at 92. Nanaimo has had 25 deaths.
