Victoria's first pop-up supervised consumption site has seen steady action during its first week of being open.
Our Place Society Director Don Evans says 268 people used the pod which is located on their doorstep.
“Even if the overdoses don’t happen inside the pod, if they are having in other places in the building, having a paramedic on site to deal with is certainly beneficial and helps us to address the overdoses quicker.”
Evans says there are still people using in the washrooms of the building but a lot of people are coming in from off the streets.
He adds as many as 30-to-40 people they see each day are not regular clients there.
The overdose prevention site at Our Place is one of three set to open in Victoria in the coming months.
