Victoria's Extreme Weather Protocol will be in full force again Wednesday night as our overnight temperature is expected to plummet below zero. The protocol kicked in when the cold temperatures and winds first hit the South Island Sunday.
Regional Coordinator Jen Wilde tells CFAX 1070's Al Ferraby, it's not just providing a place to sleep, it's about getting people out of the cold.
"If you've got somebody who is coming in and not able to lay down in a dark room and be quiet for eight hours, we do have a warming station that we can open up and that provides people with a space that allows them to be awake and watch some TV and just being inside out of the elements."
The Extreme Weather Protocol has 415 shelter spaces open at locations including Cool Aid's Rock Bay Landing, Our Place Society and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.
