The 2nd annual Vaisakhi Khalsa Day Parade will be hosted at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Victoria.
Vaisakhi is one of the most important celebrations in Sikh culture, and commemorates the birth of the Khalsa, and the creation of Sikhism.
Jatinder Singh, a volunteer with the Gurdwara, says the celebrations begin at 10 am with a parade.
"At 10am we will have a float. And on the float we be our Guru, which is our Holy Book. And that's going to be the focus of the parade, that will be at the front of the parade. A lot of people will obviously bow and pay their respects as the float goes by."
The parade will begin outside the Gurdwara on Cecelia Road, circle the block around Napier Lane, Burnside Road, Alpha Street, Douglas Street, Finlayson Street and Jutland Road, before ending back where it started at around midday.
Cecelia Road will remain blocked off to traffic, and booths will be set up for a host of purposes.
"We will have kind of devotional music, Sikh martial arts, some stalls for heritage. And then other stalls such as food and other items as well. All of the food will obviously be free, because that's part of our faith."
Singh says he expects the number of people coming out this year will be double last year's turnout of 1000 people.
Traffic in the area will be affected by the celebrations, and several bus routes will be taking detours.
He invites everyone to come out and celebrate with them. The event begins at 10am at the Gurdwara on Cecelia Road and runs until 4pm.
