Victoria Council's Committee of the Whole voted to reject rezoning applications for 4 cannibis shops, and send a 5th to public hearings. But City Council has changed that recommendation and decided to reject just two of the applicants and send two forward to public hearings and put a fifth on hold until November.
The rejected shops are in the 500- block Herald, 600-block Johnson. The properties are not in keeping with the city's buffer zones aimed at preventing pot shops from operating within 400 metres of another shop, or within 200 metres of a school.
The properties moving forward are two on Douglas street. One in the 1600 block and one in the 2-thousand block.
The fifth cannibas shop is on Quadra and a decision on its future will happen after another shop nearby goes through the public hearing process in November.
