Victoria Police Officers had to draw their weapons Monday night, in order to arrest a man who allegedly assaulted two people with a knife.
Just after 7 pm, officers responded to a call in the 900 block of Pandora. When they arrived on the scene, they found and spoke with the two victims, along with several witnesses. The officers also found surveillance footage containing one of the assaults, giving the officers a clear picture of the assailant.
Officers searched the area and found the man, along with two other people, in a park on Opal Avenue.
When officers approached the suspect, he began to walk away, and would not respond to the officers ordering him to stop.
The officers, knowing the man was armed and wanted for assaulting two people with a knife, drew their weapons and ordered the suspect to the ground. He complied with the order, and officers kept him at gunpoint while they took him into custody. No one was injured and there was no further conflict as officers made the arrest.
Victoria Police is recommending several charges, including assault, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats. The suspect is guilty until proven innocent.
