A Victoria mother and daughter got more than they bargained for when they attended a taping of the show Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Kelsey Lynn and JoAnn Heap told CFAX 1070's Joe Perkins that during a commercial break they were singled out of the audience by Kimmel to talk about where they were from, and when they said Victoria -- he shared that he'd been here before:
" Yeah, he said "Oh I've been there before". And he goes and I remember he came in on the ferry and there's this big castle there when you get in. And Mom and I just blank stare at him, and he goes well maybe it's a hotel. And then we're like, ah the Empress."
Later, Victoria got an on-camera mention thanks to actor Henry Winkler:
Kimmel: "Thrilled to have you here, thank you for coming."
Winkler: " Hello." (laughing)
Kimmel: " That's the band."
Winkler: " It is! I remember them because I was here years and years ago."
Kimmel: " That's right, they were still over there."
Winkler: " I never met that woman from Victoria."
Kimmel: " No - yeah, we have people in the audience from Victoria, Canada, B.C. as they say - yup."
Winkler: " Hi."
Heap was thrilled, as she is a big fan of Winkler's role as "Fonzie" on the old show "Happy Days".
