The Victoria and Esquimalt Police Boards have made their employment contract with Chief Constable Del Manak public. The board had promised to make the contract public when Manak was appointed. And Chief Manak himself says he wants the contract public in the interests of full transparency.
In December 2015 Manak was appointed acting Chief after the suspension and eventual resignation of former chief Frank Elsner. Elsner was suspended during investigations into sexual harassment allegations and for exchanging inappropriate messages with a subordinate officer’s wife. He ultimately resigned in May, which allowed the Police Board to elevate Manak to the top position on a fulltime basis.
The employment contract has been posted on the VicPd website, and a link was also tweeted out.
