Victoria city hall is looking to hike municipal parkade rates for those who park long term.
"We want to keep the downtown alive and unfortunate subsidizing commuter parking is expensive and I'm sure we can afford to do that," says Councilor Geoff Young. "People tell us that they're coming downtown, in the middle of the day particularity... they want to go to their bank or pick up something in a shop or go to their hair dresser or whatever it is that brings them downtown but the parkades are full.”
Young says they want to keep the first hour free policy and keep rates the same for the first three hours. But, for anyone who parks longer than three hours at a time or uses a monthly parking pass, your rates would in a bid to get you out of the parkades.
