Victoria City Council will vote Thursday on whether to join the call for a public inquiry into the growing money laundering scandal in British Columbia.
Councillors Sarah Potts and Laurel Collins jointly submitted a motion on Monday that will be up for debate at Thursday's council meeting.
Collins says growing media revelations about the links between organized crime, real estate, and the overdose crisis have led to overwhelming public interest in a public inquiry.
"There are people who knew this was happening, they knew the connections and they let it continue for years, and those people need to be held accountable."
The City of Richmond and City of Vancouver have both requested an inquiry into money laundering, and Victoria would become the third municipality to join the growing call.
