It will be late fall before Victoria Police Administration learn if their request for 6 more officers will be granted.
The matter is being assessed by a provincial review team after the city of Victoria approved their part of the funding, but Esquimalt Council rejected it saying crime was seeing a downward trend in their township.
Under the B.C. Police Act the Province has the final say on whether or not Esquimalt will have to fund the request.
In the meantime Chief Manak re-assigned 6 officers back to the frontlines to address shortages, including 3 school liaison officers.
While the removal of the liaison offers sparked concern, the funding decision won't come in time for the school year.
In a tweet Manak says he isn't expecting an answer until November, at the earliest.
