Victoria Police have arrested two men and seized two different replica handguns in two calls over a two-day period.
On Saturday, just before 3 p.m., patrol officers noted a man riding a bicycle with his face covered and without a helmet on Bridge Street near Ellice Street. When they stopped him, police noticed a bulge in his waistband. When asked about what he was carrying, the suspect produced a life-like replica handgun. Officers took the man into custody without further incident. Following the arrest, they seized an additional can of bear spray, a knife, cash and drugs.
Then, early Sunday morning just before 2 a.m. patrol officers were called to Yates Street near the Blanshard Street intersection for a report of a man walking with a gun.
Police arrived and located the suspect. He was safely taken into custody without further incident.
Again, a life-like replica firearm was seized.
Officers identified the man, who is known to police.
The incidents remain under investigation.
