Following the shock wave of confusion many local residents felt in the wake of the early morning tsunami warning on January 23rd, Oak Bay and Saanich officails are offering a second emergency preparedness session next Wednesday.
Tsunami 101 – Risk, Impact and Preparedness is a free four-member panel discussion involving the latest information on the risks of earthquakes and tsunamis on the West Coast, and what scientists do to prepare society for these risks.
Dr. Tani L. Insua, PhD Ocean Analytics Program Manager, Ocean Networks Canada will share the basics of tsunami science:how they're made, dectected, and measured.
Tsunami 101 – Risk, Impact and Preparedness goes Wednesday February 28 at 7 p.m. in the Bob Wright Centre, Room B150, Flury Hall at the University of Victoria.
