Officials at the University of Victoria are investigating a racist post targeting First Nations.
A snapchat photo which shows a group of people believed to be UVic students, appearing to drink from a bottle of disinfectant wipes with a racist caption printed on the bottle.
UVic believes they know who the culprits are and have launched a full investigation. "As an indigenous woman living in the twenty-first century, we know this type of behaviour is unacceptable."
Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training who is an indigenous woman says there's no place for racism in our Province. "I don't know where they got this idea from, I don't know where the students that ridiculed me when I was a student back in the 90's got the idea from, the bottom line is that racism is unacceptable."
UVic recently launched a new plan to further education for Indigenous students and say Indigenous enrolment is up 36 % over the last decade.
