Victoria Animal Control is checking tips that may identify the person who left the kitten zipped inside a shaving bag in the trash

After some initial concern, a 6 or 7 week old kitten found zipped inside a shaving kit bag and tossed into the trash yestreday at Hillside Mall, is doing well enough to be returned to Victoria Animal control.

The female kitten was taken to the vet to be treated for dehydration and  balance and mobility issues. She was still exhibiting issues with balance this morning, so stayed at the vet a little longer.

But we are told she is doing well enough now to be handed back to Animal Control.

A staffer will take her home for the night, and tomorrow she will be introduced to another litter of kittens about the same age to see if they accept her.

Meantime Animal Control spokesman Ian Fraser says they have received information that is being checked out in the hopes it will lead to the person responsible for disposing of the kitten in that manner.
