Saanich PD is warning residents to be aware of aggressive deer in the CRD.
There were 2 reported incidents Sunday both involving people with dogs.
The first incident involved Romeo Strasbourg who was walking his dog on Borden Street when he ran into an aggressive deer that tracked him right onto the front porch of a house. "It kept on coming after us. It followed us for a good block and a half. I even walked up to somebody's front door and it came right up there with me, it was just not scared of anything, it was very aggressive."
Saanich Police say deer, especially does, can be very aggressive this time of year as they are protecting their fawns and they react poorly especially when dogs are involved. "At this time of year, the deer can be very protective especially the does because they've just had fawns and they go into a very protective mode so we urge people that do have dogs just to be very, very careful."
Neither Romeo nor his dog was injured in that incident.
In the second incident, a resident had to use a baseball bat to scare off a deer that came into his Gordon Head yard and attacked his dog.
The deer wouldn't leave and came back 3 times.
