Three Victoria-based activists have chained themselves to the gates of Kinder Morgan's WestridgeTerminal in Burnaby. One of them is Keith Cherry, who helped organize the Walk for the Salish Sea in protest of Kinder Morgan's planned pipeline expansion.
Cherry is chained to the terminal gates along with fellow Victorians Page Harwood and Howard Green.
Cherry the action is meant to send a message to pension funds, banks or investors that Kinder Morgan is not a safe investment. He says area residents are being very supportive, dropping off coffee, food, and offering bathroom breaks in their homes.
Cherry says the pipeline and related increase in tanker traffic poses an unacceptable risk to the environment, and wildlife. He vows no matter what government has approved, the people of BC have made up their minds and won't let the pipeline be built.
