The mother of a young man killed in an altercation with police in her home is looking forward to an inquest that has been set for May 15th.
Marni Mutch is the mother of Rhett Patrick Victor Mutch, who she describes as a troubled young man.
Mutch called 9-1-1 when she walked into her kitchen and saw her 20 year old son holding a knife to his stomach. She is still having a hard time dealing with what happened:
" It's hard to believe that it's almost 2 1/2 years since it happened. I feel like I'm still in shock. I just can't believe it. It's surreal that this happened, it's heartbreaking. And of course I'm the one that made the call. So I have to live with that."
Mutch called 9-1-1 when she walked into her kitchen and saw her son holding a knife to his stomach -- and she is still having a hard time dealing with what happened:
" Really what they did, the way I see it is they turned my call for assistance into a death sentence. I never ever expected a SWAT team to come."
Rhett Mutch suffered critical gunshot injuries in the incident, and died at the scene.
His mother hopes the jury will be able to make recommendations to prevent such a thing from happening to anyone else.
