The 7th annual Mela which will be held at The Centennial Square in Victoria this weekend and you are invited to come and celebrate a weekend of music, dance, arts, fashion and much more from a variety of cultures.
India Mela is an annual event that attempts to bridge cultures, generations and communities through 3 days of free entertainment. It is a weekend where visitors are encouraged to participate in a thematic display of the rich, colorful and diverse cultures of both India and Canada. Many local politicians were on hand to open the weekend at Centennial Square, as well as CFAX 1070s own Al Ferraby to sing the national anthem.
The event will go August 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and August 12 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The previous Melas have been a great source of pride and unity for the Indian community as well as providing entertainment and education for many others. This year the number of spectators to visit the event is expected to exceed 15,000 people and additionally more that 100,000 people are expected to tune in via TV and Radio.
