Victoria city councilors will discuss an idea that could add some street parking downtown when they meet for a committee meeting on Thursday.
The idea is to allow taxi cabs to use fire hydrants as designated taxi zones, provided the driver always stays with the vehicle and that the taxi leaves as soon as the pick-up or drop-off is complete.
That means current taxi zones could be used for regular street parking instead.
It's recommended the city do a one year trial to see how it goes.
