The company that has acquired Victoria's historic Time Colonist Building is now releasing specific plans for the new site on Douglas Street.
Restoration plans released Tuesday call for an urban campus-style mixed use complex featuring street-level retail and 120-thousand square feet of large office space. The building, acquired by Merchant House Capital Inc., will be configured to include the installation of an interior atrium and a rooftop common space with a restaurant/cafe. It also provides for an urban entertainment space with a distillery/brewery zone.
The company is also responsible for the renovation of the Dominion Hotel on Yates Street, and the Bayview Place and the Roundhouse development.
For now, plans still include the housing of the newspaper's printing presses, but no word on how long that will last, or if any jobs at the Victoria Times Colonist will be lost.
