The chair of the sewage project board says she does not share concern expressed at the CRD board table this week that Esquimalt could again sidetrack the region's $765-million dollar sewage project.
View Royal mayor David Screech learned this week at a sewage committee meeting that Esquimalt has initiated another rezoning process focused on the McLoughlin Point site to iron our technical details.
Screech said the development concerns him because until a public hearing and Esquimalt council decision is made in February he can't be sure the project will actually go forward at McLoughlin Point.
"I do not share his concern. The process to date has been very collaborative. When we asked council to provide a timeline that we could all work toward they did. It was approved and was communicated openly to me. Obviously I can't be certain because discretion rests with council, but I am very optimistic."
